WET N WILD BEAUTY BENEFITS PRODUCTS, $1 AT DOLLAR TREE

Prepare yourself for another post in our Bargain Alert series...

Have you ever heard of or seen Wet n Wild's Beauty Benefits line? Well, we had not heard of it until we read about it being discovered at Dollar Tree on Nouveau Cheap a while back. It is a discontinued line of products that include eye shadows, lip glosses, and nail polishes. And I guess the poor things were discontinued a LONG time ago, because they are HARD to find info on--perhaps they died out before the best blogging came to life?! Anyway, you know we love Wet n Wild, so we were crazy excited to finally see them come to our local Dollar Tree (American Fork, UT location)! We went a little crazy and bought a bunch...but they were fabulous bargains, so can you really blame us?! We are pretty impressed with all of our purchases, and although we don't know how much these all cost at drugstores back when they were widely available and still in production, we figured they were more than the $1 we paid for each--their Color Icon trios cost $3ish, for example, so if the Beauty Benefits palettes were similar in price, we got them at a third of the price! Oh, and we also picked up some Color Icon Single Shadows and Color Icon Brow & Eye Pencils (not discontinued or limited edition!), so don't forget to check out our previous post all about those.

Okay, that's enough rambling, let's just get on with it! We'll start with gorgeous, long-wearing, highly-pigmented eye shadows quads! They are amazing quality--extremely comparable to the Color Icon shadows we love so much!

"Smokey" is a classy color combination for your basic smokey eye, include: a bright white with a subtle shimmer; a sparkling silver; a unique charcoal color with a a golden tone and gold sparkle; and a shimmering black shade.

"Fantasy Land" is a fun palette with a shimmer white; super bright blue; a deeper, cool shade of blue with silver sparkle; and deep, shimmery charcoal color. If you like blue palettes this might be a fun and unique one to add to your collection!

"Paradise Cove" is a gorgeous palette with pink and purple shades. We have a raspberry (but not quite hot) pink with subtle shimmer; a barely-sparkling-pinkish-purple-kind-of-mauve hue; a true purple with a hint of shimmer; and a deeper shade of cool purple with purple sparkles! I love this one to pieces and wish I had picked this up (this is Kaitlyn's here)!

*Note: The pink shade is lighter in person than in picture...apologies!

It's interesting that the two center shades are EXTREMELY similar to the two bottom shades in a trio called "Grays Matter" from the Be a Runway Beauty collection that came out a month or two ago...

"Sand Castle" is a lovely neutral palette! It is so pretty, and a must-have for me! It includes a pretty medium shade of brown with shimmer; a light, peachy, sparkling beige; a shimmer tan; and a nearly-metallic golden bronze! This is so pretty, and extremely versatile.

*Note: The colors are brighter in person...sorry again! The sun was playing hide and seek during my photography session this morning.

One thing you might care to keep in mind is that the names are printed on the packaging that encloses the palettes, but once you open that up, the names are gone! They are not printed on the palettes themselves! But, no big deal...You can just write the names on the back with a silver Sharpie in a very classy and sophisticated manner...

Now that we have established the fact that we absolutely LOVE the eye shadow palettes, let's talk about the Juicy Lip Glosses! We picked up two, and they are nice. They are not to die for, but they are great for a buck if you have your eye on a certain color! They are decently pigmented, but like many glosses, go on rather sheer (that's why I prefer lipstick in general). They go on very smooth and slick, though, no stickiness at all! They feel hydrating and comfortable, and give an incredible shine!

"Candy Apple" is somewhere between pink and red, and has a hint of shimmer. And now that I'm looking at the pictures, I'm realizing how pigmented this one is--that really is a good color pay-off for a gloss, isn't it?!

"Candy Glaze" is a light, sparkly pink (very light!).

Get your Sharpie ready again because these don't have the names printed on the tubes...

And last but not least, we have the nail polishes! The packaging is very similar to that of their Wild Shine polish line. But unfortunately, we could not find the name of each shade ANYWHERE! They did not come on the packaging, the bottle itself, and I could not find them online. They are still pretty colors, but it's always  a shame when you can't find a name...

This first one is a nice beige loaded with golden shimmer. It is super pretty!

The second color is a stunning maroon with a nice sheen.

Well, those are all the Beauty Benefits products we picked up! We are pretty impressed with them (especially the shadows!). Have you tried these yet? Let us know what you think of them!!!

We have another fun DIY card design for you! We loved this simple, chic design enough to make three of them! These fun cards feature some cute snowmen, and they SPARKLE! Just look at them shimmer and shine!!!

Follow these easy steps to make your own...

Step 1: Emboss the snowmen and "Let it Snow" onto white card stock, which you want to cut into a nice rectangle.

Step 2: Mount the white card stock onto colored card stock, which you'll want to cut into a slightly larger rectangle.

Step 3: Mount that onto the colorful card.

Step 4: Add some ribbon along the bottom edge!

Isn't that easy?! Talk about simple--and cute, obviously!!! Here is the materials list for ya...

Materials:

  • White cardstock
  • Blue cardstock (in varying shades)
  • Light purple cardstock
  • Sparkling embossing powder

DIY JEWELRY BOARD

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

A while back, Kaitlyn and I made some gorgeous jewelry boards! CJ finally decided to jump on board with use, and make a jewelry board of her own! It turned out amazing, and we just had to share CJ's gorgeous board!

She followed basically the same steps that we did, except for she used a "swirly checkered" stencil to paint her frame and she used Behr paint (instead of Krylon spray paint, like we did). Since our techniques were so similar, we are going to refer you back to our original post for the instructions, but also share a few pictures of CJ's board in the making!

We all love our jewelry boards! In fact, Kaitlyn and I love them so much that we have even made second ones (which match our fist ones) since our initial jewelry storage post! Aren't they pretty?!

Thanks for reading, and don't forget to check our the first post for detailed instructions on making your own jewelry board!

DIY WINTER GREETING CARD: WINTER WONDERLAND

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

We have another crafty card to share with you today! This one is a "Winter Wonderland" card! Isn't it cute?! We think so! Just look at all those pretty snowflakes, and those ADORABLE MITTENS!!! We love, love love stamps!!!

This is a fun card, and pretty easy to make, too! If you want to make your own stamped-up card, just follow the simple steps below...

Step 1: Cut a piece of white card stock into a square.

Step 2: Use different shades of blue to stamp snowflakes onto white cards tock.

Step 3: Mount the white square onto a slightly larger purple square of lavender card stock.

Step 4: Stamp "Winter Wonderland" (or other winter salutation) in blue ink onto a white rectangle, and add a few other winter-inspired designs on the sides (we used mitten and ice skates).

Step 5: Mount everything onto a blue card.

That's simple enough, right?! You have a crazy-cute winter card in just five easy steps!

Here's our list of the materials we used, but obviously you can substitute items for what you have or want to use (except for the mittens--you simply MUST stamp mittens, because they are SO CUTE):

Materials:

  • Blue cardstock card
  • White cardstock
  • Purple cardstock
  • Studio G set of mini stamps (4 snowflakes)--from dollar bin at JoAnn's
  • 4 different shades of blue ink pads (used 4 different shades of Studio G ink pads from dollar bin at JoAnn's)
  • "Winter Wonderland" and mittens stamps--"Winter Snowmen" stamp set, by Stampabilities
  • Ice skate stamp from "Wonderland" stamp set, from Dear Lizzy by American Crafts
  • Paper cutter
  • Adhesive
Thanks for reading, and happy card making!

SALLY HANSEN MAGNETIC NAIL POLISHES, $1 AT DOLLAR TREE

Prepare yourself for another post in our Bargain Alert series...

Sally Hansen really caught our attention a while back when they released their magnetic nail polishes. Unfortunately, our pleasant surprise was ruined by the high price tag: $9 to $10 for a single polish. Our college student budgets just won't allow such a splurge. And that, my friends, is why we got CRAXY EXCITED when we found these for just $1 a piece at Dollar Tree yesterday (South Jordan, UT; Saratoga Springs, UT; and American Fork, UT locations). One of the amazing Dollar Tree employees told us she had tried one of the polishes and loved! She showed us her nails, and they looked awesome with a magnet-induced wave design! She was even kind enough to go get a box full of Sally's magnetic polishes for us to rummage through (from their new shipment) before she put them on the shelf. Don't you just love employees who really value customer service?! We were so grateful for her kindness, and so excited to share this amazing bargain with you all!

Now, in case you're confused about the whole "magnetic nail polish" thing, let me explain. These polishes come with a magnet on top of the cap....

The cap also has a design on it (most of them have waves, but some have stars, checkers, or diagonal lines)....

If you hold the magnet over your nail immediately after applying a second coat of polish, then the magnet will create that design on your nail! The directions (as well as the name of the shade) are on the back of the polish....

Pretty cool, right?! We were happy to find a total of 12 different colors between the three Dollar Tree locations we went to (they each had slightly different selections). But, in three of four cases we could only find ONE polish in that color. So, you might want to RUN to Dollar Tree right now and hope you can find the colors you want! We were able to track down seven of the eight permanent colors, as well as four shades from the limited edition "Nail Your Look" collection.

From left to right, we have "Graphite Gravity," "Slate Spark," "Silver Elements," and "Atomic Alloy."

The next shades in line are "Golden Conduct," "Kinetic Copper," "Pink Force," and "Red-y Response."

And we also have "Purple Magnitude," "Cosmic Blue," "Ionic Indigo," and "Electric Emerald."

"Graphite Gravity" is a deep, shimmering charcoal (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Slate Spark" is a metallic silver with bluish sparkle (limited edition shade, star design).

"Silver Elements" is your traditional, shimmering silver (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Atomic Alloy" is a cool-toned and understated gold on the verge of silvery-champagne with a shimmery sheen (limited edition shade, checker design).

"Golden Conduct" is loaded with sparkle, but is more of a bronze than a gold color (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Kinetic Copper" is a pretty orange-toned, penny-colored copper beautiful shimmer (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Pink Force" is warm, shimmering pink with thin swirls of silver (limited edition shade, checker design).

"Red-y Response" is a red-toned purple with silver swirling through it (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Purple Magnitude" is a stunning, cool-toned shade of purple with silver sparkle (limited edition shade, star design).

"Cosmic Blue" is a gorgeous purplish blue with a silver sheen (limited edition shade, diagonal line design).

"Ionic Blue" is a beautiful, deep shade of blue with silver shimmer (permanent shade, wavy design).

"Electric Emerald" is a pretty green that lays somewhere between moss and emerald green (permanent shade, wavy design).

We tried these polished out, and guess what?! They really do work! After we applied the first coat (like normally, to all ten fingers), we applied a second coat and immediately held the magnet over the nail (don't let it dry first!), we got an awesome design! The polish also dried fast with a nice shine and opaque color. The quality seems very impressive, and we can't get over how fun the design are!

We are really impressed, and even our mom (who is not very girly or nail polish obsessed) wants a few!!

One thing we want to mention is that you can mix up the magnets and polishes. In other words, if a particular color comes with a wavy patterned magnet, you can use the star magnet from a different polish and it will work well! You don't have to use the magnet the color comes with, you can mix them up!

We tried out four of the different designs and all worked well, except for Kaitlyn's checkered design did not go on as well....

Over all, we are loving these polishes, and definitely recommend them!!

Thanks for reading this bargain alert! Don't forget to tell us about any of your recent bargain finds in the comment sections below!

SALLY HANSEN: STRANGER THINGS

Prepare yourself for another post in our Feeling Pretty series... There I was, minding my own business, wandering the grocery store (pretend...
