HALLOWEEN CANDLES

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

I've always loved the look of spooky "melted" candles in Halloween decor — but I do not love actual fire hazards sitting around the house. So making fake candles felt like the perfect solution...all the spooky vibes, none of the accidental house-burning vibes.

Also, these give off major Hocus Pocus energy, which automatically makes them 10x better.

To start, grab some paper towel rolls and LED tea lights.

Put tape on the inside of the paper towel rolls to create a little cradle for the tea light. This makes it easy to pop the light in and out later. I used painter's tape and made the cradle just deep enough so the light sits nicely without falling in.

Next, line up your rolls side-by-side and decide how tall you want each candle. I staggered mine so they weren't all the exact same height — it just looks more dramatic and spooky that way.

Mark your heights with a pen or Sharpie, then cut the rolls.

Now hot glue the rolls together.

Once they're attached, run hot glue down the sides to create that melted wax look. I actually practiced on my scrap roll pieces first because hot glue can go from "cute wax drip" to "what happened here???" real fast.

Make sure to go over the tape areas too so you don't see tape lines through the pain later.

Before painting, wrap tape around the bulb part of the LED tea lights so they don't get spray painted.

Trust me...glowing black light bulbs aren't the aesthetic we're going for.

Now spray paint everything whatever color your spooky little hear desires. I went with black for full haunted-house vibes.

Once everything is dry, peel the tape off the lights and place them into the candle tops.

Just like that...you've got eerie glowing candles with zero fire risk and maximum Halloween drama.

I love how easy and affordable this craft is — but it still looks like something you bought in a Halloween boutique for way too much money.

You could easily customize these for other holidays too:

Red + green for Christmas

Pastels for Easter

Glitter wax for extra chaos (which I will be trying at some point because obviously)

If you make a set, let me know what colors or themes you do — I love seeing how everyone else's crafty chaos turns out!
