DIY HALLOWEEN CARD: THE BRIDE OF FRANKENSTEIN'S CREATURE

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

Get ready for another fun Halloween card! Last time we shared a stylish witch design, and today we are sharing one featuring the fabulous bride of Frankenstein's creature! Don't you just love it? And look at how artistic it is--I mean, talk about brilliant perspective and a wonderful color scheme!

Here is How to make your own...

Step 1: Cut an orange rectangle (to put onto the front of the purple card), and stamp a line of tombstones and a few bats with some black ink. You can also ink up the edges, if you want. (The two stamp sets we used came from JoAnn's, for just $1 each. So did the stamping ink.)

Step 2: Cut our the bride of Frankenstein's creature using the Cricut "A Frightful Affair" cartridge. She should be about five inches tall. The bottom layer should be white card stock, and the top layer should be black card stock. Glue her onto the orange card stock.

Step 3: Glue the orange paper onto a purple card, and you're done!

We hope you love this cute Halloween card as much as we do!!!

FAIRY TALE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: EASY DIY APRON (ALICE IN WONDERLAND)

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

Hey, y'all! It is time for another Halloween costume post! Today, we'll be sharing with you how to make a super easy and cute DIY apron (for Alice and Wonderland, or almost any other apron-requiring costume). Let's just jump right into it, shall we?!

Step 1: Gather your supplies. You will need some white fabric (we got ours from Hobby Lobby for just $2.62 on clearance), some pins, fabric scissors, and whatever trim and additions you want to throw on in the end.

Step 2: Cut your apron down tot the length and width you want.

*Note: We cut this into a perfect rectangle, and it did not occur to us that it might look better if we cut the length on a slanted angle (so it starts out thinner on top and then gets wider on the bottom). So, you might want to do that. But the perfect rectangle thing isn't bad, either.

Step 3: Pin along three edges (all but the top, because we'll be folding that edge over ribbon later) prior to sewing seams.

Step 4: Yep, you guessed it! Sew the seams...

*Note: If you don't want to sew, you don't have to. You could fold over the edges and "hot glue in seams," or skip steps 3 and 4 altogether.

Step 5: Cut ribbon to the length you want it, so you can tie it around your waist, and have plenty of extra room for a cute bow in the back!

Step 6: Place the ribbon along that top, dab on some hot glue, and fold it over!

Step 7: Now that the actual apron is done, you'll just want to add the extra cuteness! Why not start our by adding some colorful ribbon along the bottom-ish of the apron?! Just cut it tot he right length, and hot glue it in place! Easy!

Step 8: Now, try to think of something that REALLY ties it in with your costume, and is super unique to your Halloween character. Just for fun. In my case (for Alice), we added a playing card! We just hot glued it on...because we LOVE hot glue...and sparkle! *wink wink*

And that's it! Now you have a super cute apron of your Halloween costume!

Thanks for reading, and don't forget to tell us what costume your apron is for in the comment section below!!!

FAIRY TALE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: DIY NO-SEW TULLE CAPE (RED RIDING HOOD)

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

If you have been following our Halloween series, then you already know that CJ is going to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween! She wants to put a fun spin on what might first come to your head when you think of Little Red Riding Hood, so we decided to come up with a fun, whimsical, original cape for her--it turned out AWESOME! We made it out of tulle, without any sewing. It is pretty simple, so we'll tell you how you can make your own tulle cape for Halloween! This is fantastic for Little Red Riding Hood, but would also be great for something like a little girl's superhero cape!

You just need some tulle (we got ours at Hobby Lobby on sale for 79 cents per yard), ribbon (we got ours at Hobby Lobby for about $1), some fabric scissors, and a hot glue gun!

Step 1: Find tulle in the color you want, and measure our enough for two to three layers of "capeness," depending on how many layers you want. CJ wanted two layers, and we probably used about three yards (she's 5'8).

Step 2: If you have extra tulle (we didn't have the exact right amount, we had extra!), then cut it down to the length you want.

Step 3: Find some ribbon in a color that is similar to or compliments the tulle, and wrap it around the shoulder/neck area (because the ribbon will go in between the two layers, and then you can tie each end of the ribbon together to keep the cape on).

Step 4: Cut the ribbon to the length you want (depending on how big of a bow you want when you tie the ends together).

Step 5: Pin the ribbon and two layers together. The two layers should be folded over the ribbon (so the ribbon is sandwiched between the tulle).

Step 6: Hot glue the ribbon to the tulle. Carefully remove each pin one at a time as you go along, and press the tulle down HARD (without burning yourself) to hold it in place.

And that's it! You have yourself a fun, pretty, unique cape for your Halloween costume! Just throw it on and model it like a rock star...or maybe like Little Red Riding Hood, or a superhero, or whatever you will be for Halloween!

Let us know what you think of this DIY cape tulle! Thanks for reading!!!

DIY ARMBAND PHONE CARRIER (MADE OUT OF A SOCK)!

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

I was on the hunt for a good, affordable case to hold my phone when I work out. Unfortunately, I learned these kinds of cases tend to be pretty expensive, have mixed reviews, and can even damage your phone! So, I hopped on Google and found a DIY solution using a tube sock! I was so excited to try out this simple DIY phone carrier, so I ran to WalMart to buy a tube sock. And surprisingly enough, I could not find your traditional tube sock there. I ended up getting a knee-high sock at Dollar Tree for $1 and praying that would work just as well. And, it does! I have gone running with my phone in it six or seven times now, and I have never had any problems. It totally stays in place the whole time, every time! Later, I picked a few more socks at Walgreen's, because they had some super cute ones for $1, too.

You can fold your phone into the sock, and wear it on your upper arm, and have peace of mind!

Since I did things a bit differently than what I found online in my search, I thought I might share this little project with you! I hope you find it helpful! Here's how to make one...

Step 1: Find a tall sock--preferably a cute one, but I suppose an ugly one would work just as well. (Like I said, I read to use a tub sock, but my knee-high sock works perfectly.)

Step 2: Cut the toe (or foot) off the sock. (The tutorial I watched cut the whole foot off, but I wanted mine longer...I experimented by doing to whole foot with one sock, and just the toe with the other. I'm happier with the "just toe" one because it is longer and gives me more flexibility.)

Step 3: Turn the sock inside-out.

Step 4: Pull the sock onto your arm, and then fold it in half (or maybe a little less than half) so you can see the pretty (or ugly) pattern. Then, just slide your phone into the fold!

Step 5: Fold the excess fabric above the phone over the top of the phone for extra security. (This is something I added, since I had extra length.)

Isn't that nifty?! You can find the sock solution on lots of different websites (I guess it is not that original of an idea), but you can see the video tutorial I mention here:

And that's a wrap! Let us know what you think of this DIY solution if you give it a try!

WET N WILD L.E. EYE SHADOW, $1-$2 AT WALGREEN'S

Prepare yourself for another post in our Bargain Alert series...

Kaitlyn and I made a quick trip to Walgreen's this morning, and found some Wet n Wild limited edition eye shadow trios at GREAT prices! The trios from the "Army Beauty" collection were on sale for just $2, and the trios from the "Pop Art" collection were on clearance for 99 cents! Isn't that great?! We picked up all the ones we don't already have, because it's not as if we could turn down such a bargain, right?!

Here are the ones we purchased:

From the "Army Beauty" collection, we got "Soldiers in Charm," "Zero Dark Flirty," "Spoiled Army Brat," and "Support Our Troops!"

"Solders in Charm" has a mossy, shimmery green; a deep, greenish-bronze with gold sparkle; and a cool-toned, army green with the slightest bit of sparkle to it. This is a gorgeous, fun palette that could go gunky or earthy. It is Kaitlyn's new favorite palette!

"Zero Dark Flirty" has a light, shimmery lavender; a dark blue-violet; and bright, pansy purple. This is the most beautiful purple trio ever!

"Spoiled Army Brat" includes a purplish pink with shimmer; a hot raspberry pink; and a light, peachy pink with silver sparkle! It is so pretty, and an interesting color combination.

"Support Our Troops!" has a sparkling charcoal; a matte black; and a shimmery white. What a classic, perfect smoky eye trio!

From the "Pop Art" collection, we picked up "I'm Seeing Triples!", "Your 15 Minutes Aren't Up!", and "A Regular at the Factory."

"I'm Seeing Triples!" includes a bright, light, leafy green; a bright cobalt blue; and a purplish raspberry shade. These colors are so bright and fun, and they appear to all be matte!

"Your 15 Minutes Aren't Up!" has a light, pretty yellow, which apparently has a matte finish; a bright, dark-ish shade of purple that has a satiny finish; and a gorgeous deep, pink berry! Another fun color combination!

"A Regular at the Factory" has the softest, pretty shade of shimmering yellow; a beautiful medium-dark yet somewhat muted shade of blue, almost like denim; and a burnt orange with an almost-matte finish. It's a perfect palette for an "understated brightness."

We hope you check out your local Walgreen's for these great deals! It is always exciting to find limited edition cosmetics--but even more exciting to find them for awesome bargains! :)

DIY HALLOWEEN CARD: THE STYLISH WITCH DESIGN

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

Check out this cute Halloween card! :)

Isn't that witch stylin'?! Of course she is! And you can make your very own "Stylish Witch" card for Halloween of 2013, using a Cricut Cartridge called "A Frightful Affair" on (Cricut Craft Room...or you can just buy the cartridge)! Here is how...

Step 1: Cut out the bottom layer in green, the middle layer in white, and the top layer in black at about five inches tall.

Step 2: Use the Scotch Glue Stick to glue all of the layers of the witch together.

Step 3: Pick out a card--we used a dark purple!

Step 4: Before gluing the orange layer onto the card, ink up the edges with some black ink! Then use a heat tool to help the ink dry faster (so you don't end up smudging the ink all over). A blow-dryer would work, too, if you don't have a heat tool.

Step 5: Finally, glue the orange layer to the card.

Step 6: Center and glue the witch onto the orange layer/card.

And...wallah! That is it! Now you have yourself a lovely "Stylish Witch" card!

Materials:

(All can be purchased at your local Hobby Lobby for fairly cheap...except for the hair dryer...unless you have an exceptionally weird Hobby Lobby in your area):

-Purple card of paper to make/fold card

-Cricut; cartridge: "A Frightful Affair"

-(Optional but awesome: Cricut Craft Room (save you a lot of paper)

-1 11x8.5 sheet of orange paper (cut down)

-1 sheet of green paper (6x11 (a cut down 11x8.5) is what I used)

-1 sheet of white paper (6x11 (a cut down 11x8.5) is what I used)

-1 sheet of black paper (6x11 (a cut down 11x8.5) is what I used)

-Adhesive (The Scotch Glue is my new favorite thing!)

-Black Ink pad

-Optional: heat tool (or hair dryer)

Happy Halloween, and happy card-making!

FAIRY TALE HALLOWEEN COSTUMES: DIY TUTU (RED RIDING HOOD, PUPPY STYLE)

Prepare yourself for another post in our Crafty Chaos series...

It is time for another Halloween post! This one is all about the tutu we made for sweet Sprinkle's darling costume! isn't she cute?! She is so excited to be Little Red Riding Hood for Halloween!

Now, if you want to make a tutu (for you, your dog, your mother--whoever!) for a Halloween costume (whether it is for Little Red Riding Hood, Tinkerbell, a princess--whoever!), then this is the post for you! We have the whole tutu tutorial dummied-down into super simple steps for you! So, let's get started!

Step 1: Gather your supplies. (Because that's not obvious enough, right?!) You will want some tulle, ribbon, and a pair of scissors. We got white ribbon from Hobby Lobby for about $1 on sale, and we got some matte red tulle for just 70 cents a yard at JoAnn's, and a remnant of red shiny tulle from Hobby Lobby for about 35 cents. And, we already had a pair of scissors on hand. I hope you do, too. If you don't, let me know what rock you have been living under....

Step 2: Measure how long the ribbon needs to be, and tie a knot on each end. In this case, we just wrapped the ribbon around Sprinkle's little waist to get an estimate of how long the ribbon needed to be. Then tie a knot on each end, making sure there are a few inches on the ends, so there will be enough room to tie a cute bow.

Step 3: Cut your tulle into strips, maybe three inches wide and between four and eight inches long (we did varying lengths to add variety).

Step 4: Fold the strips in half (hamburger style--you learned the difference between hamburger and hot dog in first grade, right?) and position the ribbon in such a way that it leaves a "hole" or "loop." Then, grab the non-looped end, and pull it through the loop!

Step 5: Repeat that about a million times! (Okay, you probably don't need a million strips...just do it until the tutu is as full and poofy as you want it to be. The number of strips will also depend on how big the waist is, anyway.) As you add strips, make sure you space out the different lengths and colors/finishes (if you have more than one) evenly. Just focus on filling up the space between the two knots.

Step 6: Once it looks nice and full, go ahead and tie it around the waist--and by "tie it," I mean tie it in the cutest little bow you possibly can! And, if you are doing this on your puppy too, have her parade around like she is cuter than Miss United States--because she is!!!

Sprinkle just loves her cute tutu!!! And look at Shadow checking her out!!! I have to say, he is pretty excited for his Big Bad Wolf costume so they can be the CUTEST PUPPY COUPLE EVER!!!

Well, that wraps up this tutu-orial! We hope you enjoyed it and found it helpful!!!Thanks for reading!!!
