Prepare yourself for another post in our Feeling Pretty series...
If you've been reading here for a while, you probably won't be surprised by this, but: I love Toy Story. Like, a lot. Loved it as a kid, still love it now, will absolutely stop whatever I'm doing if it's on TV. It's one of those movies that feels like home.
When my sister gave me the Toy Story eyeshadow palette for Christmas, I was so excited. I opened it and immediately thought, "yep. This is perfect." It's so stinkin' cute, and the shadows are honestly beautiful. Nostalgia plus makeup is basically my weakness.
The packaging alone deserves a moment. It's adorable. The outside is charming, the character artwork on the inside is just as cute, and those little metallic gold cloud details around the shades! I mean...come on. It feels playful, happy, and very Toy Story. This is one of those palettes that makes you smile before you even use it.
Let's talk about the colors — because wow. The shades in this palette are so pretty. Bright, fun, and eye-catching, with lots of shimmer and metallics that really stand out. I did notice there aren't as many neutrals here compared to the How the Grinch Stole Christmas palette, but honestly, that makes sense. Toy Story is colorful, bold, and full of personality, and this palette totally reflects that.
One small downside: the shade names are a little hard to read. They're written in metallic gold on a dark ivory background, which looks nice but isn't the easiest to read. Cute idea, slightly tricky execution.
The palette includes mattes, matte shimmers, metallics, and a glitter hybrid. Everything is buildable and generally easy to work with, though I did find that some of the matte shades take a little extra effort when blending. The shimmers and metallics, however, are the real stars — they're gorgeous and add so much dimension.
Like with the How the Grinch Stole Christmas palette, I noticed that my swatches don't always match what's shown online. Some shades appear less pigmented, while other shift slightly in tone compared to the advertised swatches.
First row of shadows
PULL STRING a white matte that isn't as pigmented as I'd like, but it is buildable
HOWDY, PARTNER a butter yellow matte
REX FLEX a gorgeous chameleon shimmer with pale green and rose gold
SINCE '95 a taupe matte
GO HAMM a flamingo matte with subtle shimmer (definitely pinker in real life than in the photo)
Second row of shadows
SADDLE UP a biscuit matte
ROUNDUP GANG a light peach metallic
BO PEEP BLUE a beautiful pale turquoise shimmer
INTERGALACTIC a clover matte
BLAST OFF a bright purple shimmer-glitter hybrid a little gritty, but not full glitter-level gritty
Third row of shadows
COWGIRL a matte apple shimmer that gives more of a satin finish
GIDDY UP a stunning espresso metallic
STAR COMMAND a sapphire metallic
FALLING WITH STYLE a violet metallic
INFINITY a walnut matte
I absolutely adore this palette. It's cute, colorful, nostalgic, and full of shimmer and metallic shades that make me genuinely happy to use it. It really captures the spirit of Toy Story — fun, playful, and full of heart — while still being wearable and versatile.
If you love Disney and makeup, I would definitely recommend this palette. It's one of those products that feels special every time you open it, and honestly, that's my favorite kind.
